day 1: qualities of the planets
I slept a good chunk of the day away, which, ironically, drained some of my brain power. So to avoid a "zero day," I opted for some light, lowstakes reading. I decided some time ago to restart my study of Demetra George's Ancient Astrology: In Theory and Practice Volume 1. What better time than to start now?
Despite being so into astrology, the foundation of my knowledge is quite weak. Astrology is a highly intuitive practice (I acknowledge that skeptics may, amusingly, say this is just another way of saying it's "bullshit"), so I think I'll never reach a level of true mastery. But I enjoy astrology nevertheless.
While reading through the first section on the planets, George mentions how the sun has heating and drying qualities. She then goes on to say how the moon is humidifying and slightly warming. Cue the confusion.
This is not my first time encountering these qualities. I know Saturn is cold. Venus is moist. But what does that mean for delineations? Does the Sun and Mars dry up everything it encounters? What does it mean for a wet planet? I think about cold, dry Saturn sitting in Pisces. It's out of it's element in the vast waters of Pisces. Hot and wet Jupiter is domicile in both firey Sagittarius and Piscean oceans. It makes sense to me on some level.
But I want to know why this is important. Maybe George will address it later.
